When bad fortune hits hard, one usually looks towards one’s strongest skill, as that’s always the best bet to help stay afloat. And, thus, Suhana’s founders launched into the production of a small line of home-made spices, or “masalas”. The spices were made by Late Mrs. Kamalbai Hukmichand Chordia in small quantities every day, and sold by her husband Shri. Hukmichand Chordia. The couple used only fresh raw materials from the market and customers just loved the recipes and the quality of the masalas. There was no looking back! By the time the next generation got involved, the business was already quite large.
The Founder couple’s sons Mr. Rajkumar Chordia and Mr. Pradip Chordia acquired land in Hadaspar Industrial Estate, where they established a manufacturing unit. The product range was expanded considerably, including extending the line to pickles and papads. A thrust was also given to upgrading technology, packaging, and new manpower was constantly hired to keep up with soaring production.
All processes – procurement and sorting of raw materials, cleaning/drying, grinding, blending and packaging – are certified by relevant national and international agencies.
We have the perfect blend of technology and manual processes. Certain sorting and cutting processes are carried out by hand in order to retain desired integrity of the product. Before dispatch, random samples from every batch go to the laboratory after they are packaged. This is from every stock keeping unit. They are tested thoroughly for contamination, quality, standardisation of natural colour, aroma, moisture content, etc.
Our team participates in spice industry events and seminars all over the world, to keep abreast with latest developments. We have waste management systems at all our plants.
We implement stringent quality management practices at every stage of the production line, right from handling the raw materials even before they reach our facilities to final packaging. Workers follow stringent personal hygiene practices, wearing fresh lab-coats, face masks and head-covers. Different spice ingredients are even stored at different rooms / areas to prevent undesired mixing of aromas! All this ensures high-quality production at all times.
Our laboratories are equipped with the latest technologies to ensure adherence to all essential physical, chemical and microbiological parameters. All our packing lines are equipped with metal detectors and magnets that remove even the smallest of metal contaminants from the products that could go in while packaging.
